Fissure sealants are protective coatings that are applied to cover these surfaces. This quick and straightforward procedure is usually carried out on children’s teeth. The teeth are carefully cleaned, prepared and dried. The fissure sealant is applied as a liquid but sets very hard, and lasts for many years. Teeth that have been treated with fissure sealants can be brushed in the usual way.
